I am trying to verify a few sites that clearly have the meta tag but
isn't working with google.  I have some sites on the same server with
the exact same settings that seemed to have worked.

The site I can't get verified through the meta tag (I've tried
everything - making sure its the right code, making sure it is in the
right spot, the right page, etc):

Here is a site (hosted on the exact same server) that works just fine:

http://www.surgerycosts.net

I have no idea why it works on one site but not the other.  Any
assistance?

I am having the same problem verifying:

http://www.shaffnerstewart.com

I just removed a DynDNS account which pointed to our website before we
got a static IP address. The address was http://shaffnerstewart.dyndns.info
which,  is still listed as being verified.

This site had previously been successfully verified using the meta
tag. I've gone through checking for the correct syntax and placement
of the tag in the index.html file, but Google still returns:

Verification status: NOT VERIFIED
Last attempt Dec 3, 2008: We couldn't find the verification meta tag.

Hope someone can shed some light on the issue.

Yeah,  what gives?

This is EXTREMELY frustrating and is really wasting a lot of my time
trying to figure it out.
