  Hi Bill! &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;That&#39;s something we&#39;ve considered before and pretty much dropped. The &lt;br&gt; big problem is that it&#39;s just too easy to break things completely with &lt;br&gt; something like that. If you forget URLs in your Sitemap file or if you &lt;br&gt; forget to update your Sitemap file or even if you forget that you have &lt;br&gt; a Sitemap file, you could accidentally limit your site&#39;s indexing

  I&#39;d agree, but boy have I heard this thing argued from both sides. The &lt;br&gt; thing is that nobody seems to have any qualms about using multiple &lt;br&gt; instances of &amp;lt;h2&amp;gt;, yet most people suffer from paranoid fits when &lt;br&gt; multiple &amp;lt;h1&amp;gt; tags are mentioned. You&#39;re right though, that is a neat &lt;br&gt; little feature at the bottom of the validator, hadn&#39;t noticed it
