Subject: 2 domain names point to same website, both point to same sitemap, is ok?
I have 2 domain names pointing to the same website and both domain
names in Googles Webmaster Tools point to the same sitemap.  Is this
how I should have it?  Both domain names pointing to the same sitemap?

JamesLimborg.com is pointing to sitemap http://www.jameslimborg.com/sitemap.xml
and
MusicDownloadInstrumentalSongs.com is pointing to sitemap
http://www.musicdownloadinstrumentalsongs.com/sitemap.xml
(same identical sitemap.xml file they are pointing at).

The sitemap.xml file ONLY uses the domain name I WANT Google to use:
http://www.musicdownloadinstrumentalsongs.com/

I will be keeping JamesLimborg.com because it is my name... so I still
want that domain name to point to my website.  I have a 301 redirect
working nice in my .htaccess file as it should.

But I'm wondering if in the Google Webmaster Tools for my
JamesLimborg.com domain name I should show that same sitemap.xml file
or NOT show a sitemap for that domain name.  This is my question.

Thanks for your help, James Limborg.

Hi James,

Yes, I replied to your other post and related
to that I want to make something clear as you now asked.

Since you 301'd the one site to the other that has the effect
that not just for Google or other Search engines but also to
users that that former domain no longer exists.

Yes, If the old domain is browsed to it shows a page but
this is on the new domain, so the old domain no longer exists.

In that light there is no reason to have both domains in Google
Webmaster Tools (Dashboard) and no reason to submit a
Sitemap for the old domain as for all intents and purposes,
due to the 301, it no longer exists.

Hope that is clear,
Abracadabra

This Official Google Webmaster Blog says that yes... put both the old
domain
and new domain in the Webmaster Tools so Google knows that you OWN
both
domains.  But my question was... Do I also include a sitemap location
for the
old domain in the Webmaster Tools?  Right now my old domain is
pointing to
the same sitemap.xml file my new domain is... and the sitemap file
only includes
webpage links with the new domain name used.

Hi,

A slight spin on the above question:  what's the best thing to do if
you have several domain names (all pointing at the exact same content)
and all of which you want to be available for users (no moving
involved)?
I've read the above (plus the FAQs, docs, etc.) but still can't quite
get a lock on this.

Currently I have three Google Webmaster entries set up for the domains
http://www.ineedben.com/ , http://www.benbeverly.com/ , and
http://www.whatbendoes.com/ .  But I've only pointed one of these at a
sitemap file.  Does this sound like the proper course of action.

Thanks,

Ben
