But it's ok to give pharmaceutical spam, scrapers, cloakers and
redirects special advantage?
Look you can try and poke holes in my site as much as you like, there
is clearly a big problem with what Google is showing for searches.
I might be new at this but i am not stupid, i have used Google long
enough to know the results are a joke.
I did not setup my site, but i was assured there is nothing wrong with
it and so far nobody has shown me anything wrong with it besides some
CSS coding errors which i got fixed and Firefox's single quote symbol
producing a non-standard one on a couple of pages.
Sure i have not gone out and got any links yet, i have focused on
writing content so there is something actually there for people to
visit and link to.
If that is a reason to show pharmaceutical spam ahead of my site, i'll
be damned.
> Look you can try and poke holes in my site as much as you like, there

Nope - for me it's all the same whether +/-1 one spam site is in
Google results.
Just personally find it disgusting that after a weak attempt to clean
up the blackhat stuff you come here and instead of telling the truth
start blaming Google and fooling people with obvious lies.
So after an apologize (mainly if some of your other ~200 MFA sites are
not tanked yet) you may consider donating a local charity- just
because wasting others time who tried to help you with the best
intent.

"Blackhat Stuff" what the heck are you talking about?
I have said everything here, if i was trying to hide i would not of
even posted.
I have 1 site, this one and i didn't even install it myself so sorry
to say Jack but i don't even have the ability to setup 200 sites i
only just worked out how to post images in a Wordpress post otherwise
i would of been doing it first post. So whatever detective school you
went to, better go back and ask Sherlock for a refund.
All this talk of charities and blackhat and no substance on anything
wrong with my site, you seem to be a Google employee skirting around
the fact your ranking the real junk and your results are trash:

Ok great now we are getting somewhere, yes Adsense was installed on
the site i openly said that. Read the site and my posts here, it was
going to fund more tools like the calculator and a forum license. Is
running Adsense blackhat?
I sent this to the person who set my site up.
"I registered and hosted your domain as i do with many other people,
that is why he thinks you own others. From the 6 he listed,
Wreckramblin has been redirected to Mastersmba for a year, sc2talk has
been offline for ages so that levaes 4. Out of those, 2 of them link
out to just 1 site (yours) and the other 2 sites.. probably link to 6
domains and they all receive traffic related to yours. They only link
to people i personally know like yourself, big woop hardly some big
blackhat scheme.
I just had a look at your friend, seems he is doing far worse than you
ever done with his online activities. Breaching Google's Trademark
with domains like http://www.googless.net and boosting his Sofa stores
with spammy word cloud links, and elaborate interlinking schemes and
largely doorway pages. Typical, at least you are not doing anything
illegal like Mr Balazs is"
So there you have it BBdeath, nothing i didn't mention here. I ran
Adsense on my site for a while, check. Someone i know in person, and
who helped me get the site setup linked to me from a couple of his
sites that get related traffic to get me started, check.
If that's cause to ban me and rank pharmaceutical spam instead,
Google's search looks very bleak indeed.

Start your own thread and ask - don't hijack other people's threads
because your problems _WILL_ be different.
Nope - just stuffing ads in front of content is the same message to
Google then users.

It's all the same whether you own those or not (in this case should
urgently change registry info- as this means that the site is not
yours)- they could be owned by different persons, obviously
promotional links with the sole aim to game Google.

Phil... So now are there problems with using html character codes for
specific things? I have never heard that, and that would be
disheartening. Granted (E2,80,99) seems a little weird, but using
“ and ” for PROPER quotes, and other codes for tm symbol
registered symbol and em dash and such being an issue with Googlebot
would really bum me out... as I like to be typographically accurate.
If you could elaborate on this, in this thread or another, it would be
great.

That's a very good point and have noticed this on two newish sites.
One was for an artist, well known in his field, with the domain name
his name and regulary appearing in content. This hit number one on
Yahoo and MSN pretty much straight away but well down the list on
Google. The other is similar to the one in this thread, at least in
terms of using common words to form the domain name. A similar
outcome, no problem with Yahoo/MSN but poor on Google. In both cases,
they are now in good position but this is probably due to external
factors rather than time, I can only agree that Google do seem to take
less note of domain wording than in the past.

Well, I can only say what I think I've seen. These characters _are_
legal in SGML subject to support restrictions - the Openwave browser
doesn't seem to like them, for instance, and displays a square block.
It may be best to surrender typographical accuracy for functionality.
See that Adsense heatmap made by Google? Their recommendation is
pretty much an exact replica of how it was positioned on my site. So
are you saying Google is running a blackhat network (Adsense) and
encouraging blackhat things and everyone following Google's
recommendations should be banned? If yes, i'm sure this one will send
shock waves across the internet.
I openly said i had Adsense on the site, and i didn't get it taken off
because i was posting here i took it off because i don't appreciate
Google ranking gibberish sites scraping my content from Blogsearch
ranking higher and running Adsense. Example:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mortgage+hardship+letter+mortgag...
60 odd thousand pages indexed pages on a scraped domain about building
reciprocal links and it's outranking me for my own domain and content.
Have a read, great isn't it? And "i'm" the blackhat?
As for this big linking "scheme" as we have determined, we are talking
"four domains" two of which only link out to me and the other two link
to a handful of domains and they all contain content related to mine
and all get traffic related to mine. Hardly trying to "pull the wool"
am i? Every day i see bloggers with 20-30 or more links to their
friends in their blogroll, i can't have just four links pointing to my
site from a friend without being a sham?
I think you owe me an apology BBdeath, if i was running some blackhat
sham i most definitely would not of spent 100's of hours writing
content, i would have run around and commented on 100's of other blogs
to get links like the mountains of cr@p i have to delete from my
comments every day but i have none of that. All i am guilty of is
writing content every day hoping to attract links naturally, and
getting a couple of links from my friends site to start me off so i
could get my site indexed so people could actually find me somehow to
link to me.
So the original question still remains, What Have I Done That's So
Horribly Bad?
Why does Google think Phentermine spam, scrapers, cloakers and
affiliate pages for gardening magazine subscriptions that have 1
backlink from a shop selling coconut oil is relevant for a finance
search containing my domain name?
Thanks for the replies, it "was" ranking fine for the domain and many
other searches for example i was being found for things like "hardship
letter", "mortgage hardship letter" and a heap of other combination's,
also things like "Lending Tree Review", "loss mitigation numbers"
actually over a thousand different terms right down to long ones like
"template for a letter to mortgage company asking for help?"
I was happy with that, they were pages i put a lot of work in to and i
believe was some of my best and most helpful stuff.
Then i was penalized and wiped off the map, even adding my domain and
narrowing it to just a few hundred results requires digging to find
me. As i have demonstrated it's left utterly atrocious results ranking
higher, i just struggle to see how Google thinks a guestbook filled
with Phentermine spam that basically crashes your browser is better
for users. Either i must of done something so horribly bad for Google
to think crashing peoples browsers is better than serving up my page,
or Google is just having major relevancy problems.
Also thanks again Phil for pointing out those codes i missed, they are
like finding a needle in a haystack.
> and everyone following Google's
> recommendations should be banned? If yes, i'm sure this one will send
> shock waves across the internet.
Beside that Google never penalizes all the sites doing something (just
like never publishes detailed press releases about the weekly ~10 algo
changes) wrong, it looks that Google is likely (not in all cases- I
also know complete spam sites) not to rank sites where the opening
screen is stuffed with ads- doesn't matter whether adsense or not
adsense.
And with this I completely agree- personally seeing ads in the main
content area is one of the things that makes me leave a site in
0.1-1.5 seconds.
> I think you owe me an apology BBdeath
Possible. Since a long time it's an open secret that I'm not
perfect...
What I've seen:
1. You are complaining about Google ranking crap sites.
This is not the place to do this- Google welcomes spam reports
elswhere.
2. You are complaining about Google not ranking your site.
3. Stated that your site is not for profit- what is obviously not
true.
4. Removed AdSense (you have removed it or AdSense decided not to
serve ads?)
5. your only backlinks are "cheap"
From these I draw the conclusion that you are not looking for help
about your site but for verification that Google is bad and all the
~40000 members of this group should claim to restore your site.
Happened many times here and at least by me it's not welcome. If my
conclusion was wrong then take my apologize.
And if my conclusion was wrong here are some suggestion:
1. Never again overload the pages with ads- not specially because of
Google, but because of users.
2. Get rid of the cheap links- they really look like paid links as it
was addressed before- and doesn't really matter, whether they are from
your own sites, friends sites or paid links: surely will not help in
rankings, but if there is any connection with you then it can cause
problems.
3. I'd suggest to find a talented copywriter- pages like these show
really low quality content and if you plan for long terms content
quality surely will be more and more important to Google (not to
mention visitors... and yes I've seen spam sites in search results
too- but this doesn't changes the general direction)
http://copyscape.com/view.php?o=4131&u=http%3A%2F%2Fcreditcards.lovet...
4. Try to offer something unique to users- whithout this you'll be
just one of the 1000000000000 similar information sites about
mortgages, for Google it's all the same which of the similars are
shown on first page.
5. Stick to your original topic on the site.
Beside this from where I sit now you are #1 for "mortgagesdebt.com"-
not ranking for your name without the tld means nothing
"mortgagesdebt" is obviously considered a typo of "mortgages debt" by
Google and results are served accordingly. So I'd put my money on that
IF there was a penalty it was because of ad stuffing.
P.s.: As you've found a site I'm working with (the only one where I
had to file a reconsideration request after a quite stromy fireing of
a "seo expert" - if you check you'll see the traces of vitually all
possible guideline-violation) you're welcome to check back in the
first weeks of January. As the current site doesn't matches my quality
guidelines a new one is arriving soon.

Not as "cheap" as the hundreds of spam sites outranking me that have 1
and 2 backlinks total, from places like a shop selling coconut oil.

No i have to admit some sort of "guilt" about why i got penalized to
file reinclusion, and as the thread title says "What have i done so
horribly wrong?"
Do i say, i was penalized because i run Adsense and i won't do it
again?
Do i say, i was penalized because of 4 errors in my CSS codes and it's
fixed?
Do i say, i had a couple of invalid ' symbols caused by FireFox?
So far that's about all i have, other than i was penalized arbitrarily
for no reason or Google just prefers spam.
> 1. Never again overload the pages with ads- not specially because of

Ads are gone, i will never use Google Adsense again.
> 2. Get rid of the cheap links- they really look like paid links as it

I will get the 4 backlinks removed.i have control over, the others
ones i don't have control over like social bookmarking, feeds
submission sites and so on i am not sure they can be removed.

3 and 4, i "wanted" to focus mainly on free tools for people but
unfortunately i cannot program so just focused on writing content
until i could get them made. I paid someone to write a couple of
articles, unfortunately this did not turn out so good so yes there is
a couple of pages i am not happy with at all, won't make that mistake
again.
But honestly i do not think i will continue with my site, the single
page of non-readable gibberish i made and hosted on a free domain to
see what was going wrong is getting 50 times more Google traffic than
my site.
So to spend hundreds of hours working on a site, only to have it
penalized and one made in 60 seconds rank better is, as i said before
a slap in the face. If Google prefers this nonsense i do not see much
point in making another site or trying to "unban" mine. All i see is
it's open season for scrapers, cloakers and garbage and there is no
incentive to make a normal website.
