Subject: General HTTP error: 404 not found
I've spent days trying to get a sitemap recognized by Google.  I kept
getting the error that it was not in the correct format althought I
used several different generator programs that are good.  Someone
finally said to name the file sitemap.xml and see if it would recognize
it.  Well, I no longer get the error that it's in the wrong format, NOW
it says that it can't find it -  General HTTP error: 404 not found

My site is http://www.crossesandchristmas.com and file is on the server
at http://www.crossesandchristmas.com/sitemap.xml.  I also have sitemap
pages on my site but they are way down from the root so I thought this
would help my rankings some.

Can anyone take a quick look and see what might be my problem?  Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Using my oy-oy tool I could not download your pages headers:
http://oy-oy.eu/page/headers/?full=1&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.crossesandc...
- it keeps timing out. The browser will open the URL, but you're
returning a content type of "application/octet-stream" instead of
"text/xml". Perhaps one or the other is throwing Google off. I would
fix both. Hope it helps!

John
