Subject: Google Maps - When and how to convert maps into Geocode?
Hello All!

I am using Google Maps to plot points based on addresses I receive
from users, those addresses are submitted into my Microsoft SQL
database.

My questions are when would I want to convert those addresses into Geo
Code and how to do that? These are my thoughts on how to, sorted in
best to worst -

1. Have those addresses verified against geocode before they are
submitted into my database and then if they have errors with the
address notify the user before they get submitted. I would also want
to insert the Geo Code also. I think I can verify the address through
the following code here <http://code.google.com/apis/maps/
documentation/services.html> although I don't know how to implement
that code into my "submit.aspx" page.

2. When the address is submitted have a seperate verification on the
address to let the user know the address cannot be converted into a
map point. After the addresses are input into my database have google
map access the address from my database, convert it to geocode, then
plot the points on the map.

3. Don't verify Address. After the addresses are input into my
database have google map access the address from my database, convert
it to geocode, then plot the points on the map.

Obviously I want to use #1. Any help will be great of you!

(1) is definitely the way to go. Have a look at John's example:
http://maps.huge.info/pinpointaddress.htm

You could do something similar, only submitting the final location to
the database when the user is happy with it. We've got no idea about
how to implement your submit.aspx page either, as you haven't linked
it, but you could put the marker location into two text fields (maybe
hidden text fields) in the form which is submitted.

Andrew I don't the site up and running.. plus I am very noob. In case
I didn't say it I am using asp and visual basic.

I did find some data on connecting to a website and getting the geo
code into an xml but I don't understand how to set it up. Here is the
link <http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa730836(VS.80).aspx>

What I would need help with is converting all that so it reads on my
submit.aspx page. It would take me forever so if there is any experts
out there that can help explain to me where to place code and edit it
so that it works in a webform that would be AWESOME!
