What a slack bunch we have here. Surely someone has memories of their
days at the Valley School? Or even about the Valley itself? How about
interesting/amusing tales of growing up? Or school-mates you bumped
into in later life?

Hi to all members
Ron Gillander, a pupil from 1951 to 1959 has recently been in touch
with me. He sat the scholarship exam in '59 and now lives on the north
coast. Ron has sent in a few photos to share with us and these are now

New Members

Hi there
We have two new members - not sure when they attended FVSS so I shall
leave it up to them to post something to these pages telling us a
little about themselves. Which reminds me, I think there are still
several members from whom we have not heard anything. So how about
posting a few words and introducing yourselves. Also, another point -... more »

FVSS 150th Anniversary Celebration

Thought I'd pass this on FYI. I received it just recently and now you
will know what's is planned and when:
"Hi Ray
Thank you for sending a copy of your correspondence with Rosemary to
me. After many discussions with P&C we have decided on a Family Fun
Day to be held in October 2011. Of course, the whole year will be a... more »

Lanham Street Bowen Hills cottage
|

Hi everyone
Good to see Ross' input just recently. Thought I'd bring this little
piece of information to notice: Page 14 of The Courier-Mail of 27-28
September mentioned a cottage at 3 Lanham Street, Bowen Hills (between
O'Connell Tce and Campbell Street). Did anyone read it? The article
states that some 16 families have been known to reside there, the home... more »

Hi, gang, sorry for not contributing over the last eight weeks. I have
been offline for a welcome break from infernal computers. Funny how
they take over your life if you let them.
Thanks, Ray, for continuing the search for pix and info on the FVSS.
These hunts seem to have a pattern. You exhaust all avenues and things... more »

Former Boys' School
|
| |
I have now found some information on the wooden building that was the
boys school before being demolished c1948 to make way for the "new"
building opened in 1950. Just for the record:
8 April 1886
Tenders invited for construction of a new wooden building in Brookes
Street nearest St Pauls Terrace to house the boys’ school. Closing... more »

FVSS Past Pupils

Just a brief reminder: if you know of someone who attended FVSS, how
about mentioning this site to them and urge them to join our growing
membership. The school web site is in need of some TLC and I
understand that the Principal proposes something new real soon so it
can advertise its upcoming 150th anniversary. Until this is achieved... more »
