You mentioned the cinemas - the Civic was a flea pit (that's what I
was told and to never go there). I did go once, just once. My
favourite haunt was the Embassy - shows changed every Thursday.
Sometimes I would meet my mum after she finished work at Woolworths

I can remember an incident at school but can't imagine anyone else would be
interested, although it would be nice to know if anyone else witnessed it
and could remember. I was playing up in class turning around to the person
behind me, making my eyes like chinese and saying "me lofarlee". Unbeknown

Hello Valleyites. I lived on the corner of Brookes St and St Pauls
Terr as a youngster and attended the Valley Methodist Church
kindergarten in Brookes Street near the corner with Ann Street in
1947. The only person I can recall is Lorraine Ballard who lived in

Hi, Ray, can`t help you with Lanham St., but a name to keep in mind is
Mr. ? Sebborn, who lived across from us in Anderson St. He must have
been amongst the wealthiest in the Valley. Rumour was that he owned
fifty homes in the Valley. His M.O. was to put fifty pounds down as a
deposit and let the tenants pay them off for him. He was the resident

Good to see Ross' input just recently. Thought I'd bring this little
piece of information to notice: Page 14 of The Courier-Mail of 27-28
September mentioned a cottage at 3 Lanham Street, Bowen Hills (between
