My name is Jan Mullins and I live in Cranbourne, Victoria, Australia. which is about 35 miles out of Melbourne. I retired from work a few years ago and until I was shown some astounding artwork produced with Ultra Fractal and Apophysis (plus many other fractal programmes) I thought my life would be more devoid of creativity. Then... (drum roll) ... I downloaded Apophysis and my life hasn't been the same since. Ultra fractal still has me beat but never say never as I will persevere. I'm a true Apo addict. I would like to meet up with other fractal artists if there are any 'local' meetings. I'm a little agorophobic and that can be a problem sometimes. Apart from that I am as insane as everyone else. Inspired by Apophysis and by the art of other fractal artists. G'day to all of you wherever you come from. Pleasure being here in your company
Hi, Jan, Thanks for adding to the forum. Always good to hear from Apo-freaks! UF has me beat, too! Apo has to be the most versatile fractal program I have used. Have you visited the Apo site on deviantart? It's a wonderful place for resources and to see what other Apo users are producing. It can be quite an eye-opener!

Hey Jan, Nice to know another apoholic has joined the herd. I can identify with the feeling of your life being devoid of creativity. I always wanted to be an artist, preferably a sketch artist. I thought one had to have "talent" to draw, and didn't realize that a person can learn how to do this. When I found Apophysis, I too became addicted. It was the only program I used for over a year. I have Ultra Fractal and it is a mystery to me. In the two years I have had UF, I have yet to create anything on my own that I would want to post. Sort of like the first and so far only XenoDream image I was able to create. It looked, (I can only say what it looked like in this way) like pink cow manure! roflmao!!! Truly, it did. That sort of marked me I think from not trying it again any time soon. But like you, I am not a quitter either. I just have to pick my times to try these other programs. I have found that my irritation tolerance is practically nil when it comes to 'things'.
You live in a country I have always wanted to visit, actually there are some pretty talented people I 'know' through the art sites that are from Australia. I have always wanted to go to where the opals are mined. I think they are some of the most beautiful stones on this entire earth. I even use photos of them to make gradients for Apophysis! I don't see any mention of an artsite that you post to? I would love to see some of your flamework, or perhaps I have and didn't realize it was yours. Our screen names and given names being sometimes very different, who knows? G'day Lea

Thanks Kat. I know about Apophysis on Devart. I have a page there http://janem.deviantart.com/. I have found everyone that I have had any contact with to be most generous of their time and enjoy the camaraderie of other fractal artists. I think most of them are as mad as me. I've been doing a lot of cutting and pasting with scripts and think that I might like to have a try at scripting one day. Trouble is...the moment I open up Apophysis I am away in la la land for hours which tends to leave little time for much else lol.
