Subject: Multi lingual websites and keywords

Hi John
I have a question for you about keywords.
As you know I run a multi-lingual website using ePages technology for a
not-for-profit organisation - how do the keywords work where you have
several languages?
I have tried to add some keywords in each language.
Are there search engines searching in multiple languages or do they just
track strings of letters and not worry about the content or do I just worry
about the English keywords?

Thanks
Bev

Hi Bev,

Yes people using a foreign languages will search on keywords in
foreign languages and they are likely to search using both the
accented and non-accented versions of the words. So your main keywords
should be in each language (with and without accents if your keyboard
can handle it). Following are some tools that you can use to find
foriegn language keywords. ePages provides keyword fields for each
language. Popular search engines will also work with languages such as
Chinese and using a different character set so even in these languages
the keywords are still important.

Hope this helps.
