We have had some questions of late about product variations. By
product variations we mean the ability to create a base product such
as a "T-Shirt" then you can create sub-products that offer variations
such as size, colour, neck line style as examples.
If you are using ePages V5.03 then you first have to create a Product
Type and in that Product Type you have to create the attributes of
size, colour, style etc. These attributes have to be setup with a
value selection. If there is no value selection you can't create
variations. When you create a new product you have to set the Product
Type in the Product Attrbutes area and save. This will then show the
attributes assigned to that Product Type for that New Product.
You can then go the the Variation Tab and select the attribute values
you want and also you can create the variation products.
If you are using 5.04 the preceeding method will still work or you can
use the new Product Variations Wizard and follow the steps.
The variation products will inherit all the content from the base
product. You can overwrite the content by variation and also add new
images for each variation. You can set a separate price for each
variation. When you open a variation product you will find a new radio
buttom over the price file where you can turn on "own price".
When you have created the variations you need to make each variation
visible in the store or you will not see that variation. You can do
this in each variation product as you go or you can do this in bulk
from the product list view.
Variations can create lots of products so make sure you really need
them. We also have a simplified variations capability where you can
select size, colour, etc but you only have one product so every
variation will have the same description, image, price etc. You only
need to create variation products if you want to have separate prices,
descriptions etc.
