poor AES performance with VIA Padlock (xcrypt)
I'm trying to benchmark the VIA Padlock crypto engine on OpenBSD 4.3 running 1 GHz VIA CPU. It seems like OpenBSD sees the Padlock feature, but the crypto performance is pretty poor. This is how CPU is seen by the kernel: OpenBSD 4.3 (GENERIC) #698: Wed Mar 12 11:07:05 MDT 2008 dera...@i386.openbsd.org:/usr/ src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENE RIC... more »

Trying to block a single MAC address using static arp...and failing badly
I've got an OpenBSD 3.6 firewall (yea, old, will upgrade soon) and I'm trying to block one noodnik user from the network it controls. For a variety of reasons, it's going to be easiest to do this by targeting his MAC address (yea, I know they can be spoofed, but this guy isn't that clueful). I'm trying a suggestion seen on some forums that suggests creating a... more »

Literally find. I need to find all scripts that have #!/usr/bin/perl in them and examine if they can be hijacked by spammers. How can I do that?

spamd question
Hello, I am using spamd on OpenBSD 4.1 in greylisting mode and was wondering if this behaviour of spamd is correct: The very first time I send a mail through, spamd marks this IP address in the spamdb as GREY. Then after <passtime> passed and when the mail server retryies to send the mail it !still! doesn't get through. So... more »

Since installing 4.4, ntpd keeps giving me syntax errors
...I've just installed 4.4 (not an upgrade; a bare install) with no such problems. ...Mine: ...ntpd_flags= # enabled during install Maybe the lack of an empty string may have a bearing on your problem... ...Errrr... your poor old cat ;). My ntpd.conf just contains comments and: servers pool.ntp.org... more »
