Description: Arcade-style games on PCs.

Not OT. How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs 1 to move it to the Lighting section 2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section... more »

Painkiller: Resurrection review (of sorts)
I don't know what to say about this game. To start with, it's yet another game whose lineage has created expectation that hasn't been met. It's better than Overdose in concept, but fails in major ways in application. The biggest mistake was putting the production and QA in the seemingly unsupervised hands of "Homegrown". The same people made the Overdose... more »

Prometheus
This is the second Unreal mod I've come across this week. Prometheus is supposedly a single player co-op game along the lines of Portal and Mirror's Edge. It has an interesting time twisting premise involving your own character from the past, present and future. Get the demo here (320MB) [link]... more »

What percent of your net monthly income do you spend on games?
I was just sitting here, thinking about the crappy economic times, and all the money I've spent on games over the years. Some of which have been big disappointments, yet others which provided an entertainment value which, if measured in hours, would have surely beaten any other form of entertainment out there. There have been a few games where... more »

Quickie: Risen
I'm an unabashed fan of the Gothic series. The first two games were masterpieces; the third game was still an awesome experience despite its numerous flaws. Risen, developed by the same team that produced the Gothic series (and quite obviously so; it is impossible to review Risen without comparing it to Gothic), is exactly the sort of game I... more »

Dragon Age -- it might be wise to avoid digital download purchases via Steam or Impulse for now........
See:- [link] It seems that the game is rather buggy anyway, so a few weeks latency on purchase should "clear the air" for a more sensible purchase/purchase-source decision. John Lewis

Mages in Dragon Age and the Psi Corp.
Just started playing a Mage in Dragon Age. They've borrowed heavily from the Psi Corp in Babylon 5. Right down to referring to non-magic uses as 'mundanes.' Not a criticism, just an observation.
