WD1200JB Issues
This IDE Drive is no longer recognized in Windows 2003 Server via USB. I tried connecting it directly to the IDE Controller on my PC, sometimes it locks up during BIOS IDE Detect, and sometimes it is recognize correctly. Win2003 boot process hangs near 50% if this drive is connected to the Onboard IDE. If I try to connect it via USB after windows starts I get... more »

New to NAS, have idea, looking for software to do it.
I am a smalltime consultant with several clients having similar scenarios. Typically they have less than 100 Windows workstations and anywhere from 1 to 10 servers. Some servers are virtual hosts - just getting started in the virtual world. My idea is this: If I have up to 100 PC's, often each one has many GB... more »

Micro SD card / MSP430 interface: write problem
Hi everyone, I have interfaced a Micro SD card to a MSP430 microcontroller using the SPI mode. Everything worked perfectly fine but I recently had problems when writing too often into my files. Here is my setup. As I said the card (SDHC 4Go) is directly connected to the microcontroller via its USCI (SPI) peripheral. I have written the... more »

ReadyNAS NVX and Linux encryption
Before I buy such one I really need to be sure that I can have encryption on this device. I want to use it to store my personal backup at a remote side. Automating Image Backups of Windows Boot Devices
Is there any Windows backup software that will boot a server on a schedule, and then take control *before Windows boots* to make an image backup of the boot device, prior to handing off control to Windows? We want to bypass any possibility of a file being locked during use while Windows is booted.... more »

MSA2000 with SATA Host Attachment
HP has a new RAID array that allows SATA host connections named the MSA2000 (there are options for iSCSI and Fibre Channel host attachment as well). Does this product allow more than one host to attach to the array? Can you attach an MSA50 2.5 SAS drive array to the MSA2000? HP advertises expansion to the MSA70 only.... more »

Replacing an OEM Mobo...
My Sony Viao PCV-RX360DS (UC28554430) came with an Asustek CUSL-LV Rev. 1.xx mobo and a 40 GB ST340823A Rev. 3.07 hard drive. Can anyone comment on the compatibility of replacing the OEM hard drive with a 250 GB WDC WD2500BB 55GUC0 Rev. 08.02D08 hard drive? Thanks! Jimmy Roberts jkr1963.at.verizon.dot.net... more »

RAID level for personal archival?
Hi all, I'm building a RAID solution for personal archiving (general large things like raw photos, full disk backups, DVD rips, that sort of thing). I picked up a 7-disk NAS tower that I'm filling with 2 TB desktop-class SATA disks. Much of this is irreplacable data - RAID failure would be very bad.... more »
