Well, the Motorhead tour is just around the corner and many of us will
have just blown a ridiculous amount of money on something in gaudy
wrapping that promised much but lasted a few short minutes and ended
with a disappointing bang... some of us might also have bought some
fireworks. Anyhow, it all means one thing - christmas is just around
the corner and it's time for the Secret Santa.
Old lags will know the score by now, but for the new recruits: it's a
simple idea. If you say you want to take part, you'll go into the hat
(well a Journey mug anyway) with everyone else. Once the draw has
been made you will have a 'victim' that you'll have to send a
compilation cd(s) to, nicely wrapped in time for christmas. The cd
can be made up of anything you see fit, but remember it will get
reviewed. Of course you'll have a Secret Santa too, who will send you
a lovely present for your stocking. It's all good fun, and has been
very popular for the last few years.
Can anyone who wants to take part, please let me know via the 'reply
to author' link at the bottom of this post, sending me your name &
address. If you've taken part in previous years, please still do this
as I have a new computer since last year and I'm too lazy/technically
inept to transfer stuff across.
As an added bit of fun this year, when you get in touch I'd also like
you to nominate your favourite track from 2000 onwards. I'll put
together a compilation to go out to everyone who takes part. I won't
reveal who chose what but there will be a prize for whoever can
correctly match up the most tracks.
I'll set a cut-off date of 20th November for people to get in touch.
I'd encourage as many people as possible to get involved, the past few
years have been great fun and it's so easy to get involved. I look
forward to hearing from you.
Secret doesn't mean we can't talk about it at all you know!
Well, time's getting on and people have been slow coming forward - by
my reckoning we're only up to 8 people so far and there's a lot of
stalwarts missing from my list. Please don't let choosing a favourite
track put you off, and if you're new, the whole thing is great fun and
well worth a whirl.
Please get in touch as per the instructions above.

Always provides a great opportunity to find some music you've never
heard before. I'll admit the song of the decade choice was
ridiculously hard, and fluctuated for me daily. In the end I was down
to two, maybe 3 songs of VERY different styles of rock, but I think I
made the right choice in the end.
Just wanted to add my encouragement for more of you to join in with secret santa. It is a great and free way to guarantee some top rock 'n' roll under the tree this Christmas. And part of the fun is in the giving, developing a CD playlist that will entertain, educate and enthuse people on Christmas day. Rob
Count me in then chaps.... I've only managed a dozen or so posts but
like the idea and have my best song of the decade already clear in my
mind!

Okay, so I'm being well quiet at the moment, but I'm sure I could put something together.
Good to have you involved, just send me your address and fave track
through the 'reply to author' button on the bottom of this post.

The numbers are growing and thanks to everyone who's been in contact
in the last couple of days. Still some old hands missing though, But
it wouldn't be fair to name any names would it? What do you think
Kat, Woody, Long Live RnR.....? I'll leave the list open until Monday
for any stragglers.
Muttley,
Thanks to the 'wonders' of facebook I know that Kat left for 2 weeks
in Floridaa this morning, so whether she'll be in touch or not might
depend on the availability of the internet at Disney World!

Mutley.
You know I love the idea and am always keen to support you, in your
endeavours as you do me, but, my computer is such hassle burning discs
its just no fun. Besides my head is far from straight right now
anyway. I would probably pick Pink Floyd or something stupid for best
track when we all know its Down Payment Blues (AC/DC), except that was
1978 !
Enjoy SS09 guys and I am with you in spirit anyway.
