I can't seem to reply to the newbie thread so I have been advised to
start a new one...Behold the new newbie thread.
My name is Andrew Maslen (Mazz) I live in Bath and am 31 years old. I
like a wide range of Heavy Metal and Rock bands. I have a real soft
spot for 70's "Proto-Metal". I'm also going through an intense AC/DC
love session at the moment.
I sing in a band called Battlewitch and I was the stupid sap that sent
in those two awesome pictures into last month's classic rock. We were
a little drunk at the time and flicking through some old copies of CR
and were complaining of the lack of "art" contained within ;).

another new member tried to reply to the old newbie thread, but it
didnt wotk (must find out how to un-sticky it), so here's their
intro...
Hi
I'm Steen from Denmark.
A real old fart, but I actually don't give a shit.
I have passed 40 a few years ago - but I still play bass in a
rockband, listen to a lot of hard rock - so I now have hair growing
out of my ears and nose - and the hair on my head is slowly
dissappearing.

DP: "Made In Japan", "In Rock", [wow !!!] "Fireball" DP [April]. When I heard the re-vamped "Bludsucker" off "Abandon" I wondered why they bothered because I love the "In Rock" version so much. & I think that version of "Child In Time" *just* beats "Made In Japan".
JP: "Rocka Rolla", "British Steel" [reason for my razor blade necklace] "Sad Wings Of Destiny"
Robert Plant: "Mighty ReArranger"
& loads more besides. I'd be here all day.
I wish I lived over there, I think I'd fit right in. All I get over where I live is, "Who's this Ian Gillian?" [sic], or, "ugh! he sounds like a dying cat! How can/do you listen to this?"
That or, "I remember them from when I was young .....".

I play bass in a rock band, and if I should name a few fave bands, I
would have to start with AC/DC - they are on the top of my list....and
have been there for more than 20 years.
My list is longer than Ted Nugents hair, but a few names are Rainbow,
Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Dio, BTO, Nazareth, Boston, Cheap Trick,
Enuff Z'Nuff, Rush, Ted Nugent, Thunder, Dokken, Thin Lizzy.....and
the list goes on forever.
You will find many a good friend and topical discussion within the
group. We like opinions,
even if we dont like them, if you get my drift.
Great to see a 16yr old who is into Foghat
There is hope for the world afterall
I'm Cliff, a well-travelled, sprightly little number of maturing
years, who loves Rock n Roll in equally huge measures...
Musically I'm into all sorts of trash from Sinatra to Slayer, but I
have to save a special mention for the following...not because they're
my absolute faves, but because they are vastly underated...Mother Love
Bone, Vain, Hanoi Rocks, Dogs D'amore, Love/Hate, Tigertailz (RIP
Pepsi), LA Guns...so many others, and mostly defunct :(
I'd also like to mention a particularly fantastic new band from around
this area (Deepest Buckinghamshire) called LIONSEX. They're brand
new, and they really do deliver!!! I do help the guys out, so call me
biased, but I really think you should make up your own minds - You can
hear their stuff at www.myspace.com/lionsexrock...I'm pretty sure you
won't be dissapointed :)
Hope you'll forgive the plug - I only dare to do it because they're so
bloody good!!!
Much luv to all
Cliff

PS - New issue of Classic Rock magazine looks fab - Axl always makes
me chuckle ;)

Some great bands on that list including the Dogs D'Amour who had an indirect hadn in me and my missus getting together all those years ago.
