I happened across the ABC Classic FM "Rising Stars" radio broadcast this
morning and it featured Harold Gretton's 2008 studio recital. Like me, you
may have heard his PhD recital at ANU and wondered if there was a recording.

The Instrumental competitions will not be held in 2009. They will take
place in 2010, but a date is yet to be finalised. I will let you know when

Portuguese music for classical guitar

Afonso (+1986), the best known portugese singer and goes with a CD with the

Tarantella Guitar Ensemble

I'm just writing to let you know that I am currently directing Music For
Everyone's adult classical guitar ensemble 'Tarantella'. The group is
suitable for players over 15 years of age and are at at least AMEB Grade 3
or thereabouts. The group is a very good opportunity to learn ensemble
skills on a week to week basis, and aside from that it's great fun!

SCUNA (the ANU Choral Society) is performing a concert of 16th century
madrigals called Sweet Love Doth Now Invite. Composers include Byrd,
Dowland, Gibbons, Tallis and many more. We are performing on the 26th
September at St Andrews Church. We thought it would be great to include
some lute players in our concert.
