Subject: Australian guitarists in GFA finals.

Two Australian Guitarists in U.S. Competition Final

The Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) competition is on now in the U.S. and
two Australians are in the finals which are being performed on Sunday 21
June (Monday 22 June in Australia).  Results will be known soon.

The two classical guitarists are Aleksandr Tsiboulski in the open category
and Andre Lebedev in the under-18 category, current and former students,
respectively, of the ANU School of Music under renowned guitarist and
teacher Timothy Kain.

Ukrainian born guitarist Aleksandr Tsiboulski is first prize winner in six
international competitions, including the 2006 Tokyo International Guitar
Competition.  He recently returned to Australia after completing the
Australian-American Fulbright Scholarship in the Visual and Performing Arts,
based at the University of Texas at Austin.

Andre Lebedev is in his first year of studies in the Guitar Area at ANU
School of Music under Tim Kain.  The GFA is his first major international
guitar competition.

To reach the finals is a major milestone, and a very proud moment for
Australia and the ANU School of Music, according to Tim Kain.  To have two
make the finals is even rarer.

Results will be posted on the GFA website http://www.guitarfoundation.org/
and Canberra Classical Guitar Society website
www.classicalguitarcanberra.org.au  when available.
