Subject: A book on the native plants of hawthorn/melbourne
Hi, I'm looking for a book, preferably with photos, on the native
plants of hawthorn (melbourne). Anybody know of any? Thanks.

City of Boroondara has a list of indigenous plants at
http://www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/environment/environmenthome/biodiver...
but provides no photos or further information. If you use this list in
conjunction with APS Maroondah's Flora of Melbourne you will find most
of the information you need about the plants. If you need more
information than is in Flora of Melbourne, it's amazing what googling
on the species name will turn up.

Good luck! Elaine

As Elaine said, the list of indigenous plants, plus Flora of Melbourne
will assist you greatly. You can also tie that with the Shire of Yarra
Ranges' new Local Plant Directory which is available on the web at
www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/plants. It has descriptions with photos of
the plants of the Shire and is written by the same author as the Flora
of Melbourne. Again it will not cover all the Boroondara plants. The
fully revised Fourth Edition of Flora of Melbourne, which will not be
available for at least 2-3 years, will also have photos of many of the
plants.

Native trees and shrubs of south eastern Australia by Leon Costerman,
while not specific to the area has a great range of pictures of native
sp., can pick it up from a decent book store for 40$.
