Hey Friends:
Well, as you likely know by now, a major severe weather outbreak has occurred in the southern US. Over 40 twister reports so far and the Death Toll is now 22 (thankfully none in Arkansas; Mena, Thankfully, was only grazed by a right-moving cell--moving SE instead of NE--which earlier spawned a twister in McAlester, Oklahoma).
Anyway, was just watching the Weather Channel---showing footage of the shocking devastation in the small town of Picher, Oklahoma. The WOW is the testament to the fierce winds: A (paper) tax statement--from a family living in Picher--was found 93miles/~150kms to the East!!!
Theres even a few Aussies stormchasing in Arkansas. A couple of them arrived in Stuttgart right after a (Preliminary) F-3 twister hit part of that town---they were even helping out by directing traffic!
Kind Wishes~~~David Powell
P.S. Are there any reports of things being blown long distances by twisters in Australia?
