Not sure what I would call that feature, but it is certainly one of the most complex summer situations I have ever seen.

Unbelievable having a rapidly approaching front with 850Ts of near 20C but a max (so far) of just 23C at Avalon. I notice OZ GFS has considerable rain over southwest and central Vic for the next 24 hours (10-25mm widespread) so could be an interesting evening.

Hi all....and now for something different a warm front is advancing southeast across northern Vic and triggering storms....not a common set-up....temps rise 10c north of the boundary and humidity levels drop heaps....Gone chasing warm frosts regards Clyve H

Bring it on David - I'm gonna hold you to it!

I'll look forward to another 4 mm here in the dry spot.

Drove out to Braidwood this afternnoon.  Large temperature difference between Canberra and south of  Braidwood: 33 and 18 degrees respectively.  Storms were nothing to write home about, but apart from the large temp diff b/n two places about 70 km apart, the low cloud fog outflow from the departing showers/storms and the number of clear air CGs were noteworthy
.

IMHO best two sites (which are interactive) are...

http://forecasts.bsch.au.com/apf.html?region=vic&days=7.5

and

http://expert.weatheronline.net.nz/

Looks like the models over cooked rainfall total in the end in central areas - though suspect the 9am reports may show the odd heavy total from storms.

Regards,

DJ
