Some of the stuff they have within their religious writing, it appears caste persecution is firmly ingrained within their religious writings :
Laws of Manu 270. A once-born man (a Sudra), who insults a twice-born man with gross invective, shall have his tongue cut out; for he is of low origin.
271. If he mentions the names and castes (gati) of the (twice-born) with contumely, an iron nail, ten fingers long, shall be thrust red-hot into his mouth.
272. If he arrogantly teaches Brahmanas their duty, the king shall cause hot oil to be poured into his mouth and into his ears.
Or from Gautama Dharma Sutra 12.4 - 12.6 If the shudra intentionally listens for committing to memory the veda, then his ears should be filled with (molten) lead and lac; if he utters the veda, then his tongue should be cut off; if he has mastered the veda his body should be cut to pieces.

How many Hindus do you know claim the Manusmriti to be "scripture?" How many Hindu homes have this "book?" The answer, zip. The book, however, seems to be a perennial bestseller amongst non-Hindus. :-)
Maharishi Gautama's Dharma Sutra lays out the "rules of conduct" (including the two above) of Hindu dharma for _all_ four "varnas." Now, how many Hindus actually have this Dharma Sutra in their homes? The answer, zip. How many Hindus are actually familiar with the Dharma Sutra? The answer, very very very few, and mostly from a scholarly angle rather than a religious/social one.
Yeah, lots of religious systems have a whole lot bloodthirsty crap in their "scripture." Doesn't mean squat.

Good thing they are no kings to do that anymore. But wow that is just as bad as the Koran or the Torah. I believe in Reincarnation but a. We can't know for sure how many lives we have lived (so I am sure those who said they have had one life before are lying) and b. Just because someone may have been here more times then someone else doesn't mean they are superior. That would be like me having to say people over 26 are superior because they are older- very stupid (plus I have been flamed be many people over 26 who act like they are in Primary School). I guess even reincarnation can be used to control people, which is quite the opposite of what it should be used for.

More than a few Hindutva seem to consider the Laws of Manu quite important to them, luckily they're just the extremists and not the norm, and unfortunately every religion has the same sort of extremists floating around.

Agree with you entirely, was just responding to the question.

That is something I have realised. The Jews have the "God gave us Israel" crowd, the Christians have the types who bomb abortion clinics, for Muslims it's jihadists and Sharia Law advocates and for Hinduism it is the minority who believe in the Castle system. Which is not what Reincarnation is about at all.
