$19m for camel cull shooting from helicopters is a waste of time money
meat an its insanity

Australian taxpayers seem obsessed with helicopter gunships to solve
basic management problems and gross ignorance

Camel trap yards could be built and the camels harvested for less than
19 million dollars , and thousands of jobs created for the local
Aboriginal peoples , and hundreds of tons of camel meat saved from
rotting away in the desert

WHY are 30 million cattle and 5 million tourists OK for Australia

BUT we can now manage to deal with one million camels

Its either insanity , gross incompetence , racicial/cultural
blindness , or all 3

THE Federal Government will spend $19 million to cull camels in
central Australia as part of a $400 million package of environmental
grants.

The culling program will be undertaken by the Desert Knowledge Co-
operative Research Centre.

It will require helicopters to shoot the animals in more remote parts
of Central Australia.

Camels are regarded as one of Australia's worst feral pests.

BUT up to 30 million cattle and 5 million tourists are OK

They cause $14 million damage to infrastructure trying to get adrink
or escape madmen in helicopters trying to kill them , and a number of
road deaths, through collisions, each year.as do push bikes cattle
and horses and tourists

Camels also adversely affect native species by trampling habitats and
blocking sparse watering holes in the desert. but FAR less than 30
million cattle and up to 100million sheep

This proposal brings together for the first time all the state and
territory governments in SA, WA, QLD and NT, Aboriginal organisations,
NRM Boards, conservation groups, the pastoral industry, commercial
interests and research organisations.all keen to enjoy another 4 years
holiday at taxpayers expense in the outback

The Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre (DKCRC) and its
partners say the news that the Government had chosen to support its
application to the Caring for our Country program for the management
of feral camels will have a major impact.

IF this is the best they can come up with after receiving vast vast
amounts to research the matter , the DKCRC should be culled and REAL
desert experts employed ASAP so REAL solutions can be put in place

The proposal outlines how camel numbers can be reduced to preserve
biodiversity and cultural values in remote Australia, and reduce
damage to pastoral and settlement infrastructure. and enjoy another 4
years holiday

=93Our application for a =91large=92 grant in this round is the only one to
have been selected to proceed=94 says the DKCRC managing director, Jan
Ferguson., it should be CANCELED ASAP

"We will now work the Federal, State and Territory Governments, and
all of our industry and other partners to develop and implement the 4-
year, $19 million dollar project."
