We'll read that as your diversion from the point that you can't contest the fact that the previous Liberal government never once in over a decade exceeded the interest rate left to them by the previous labor government, even though that rate was much lower than the massive blown out interest rates that that labor govt had delivered us in previous years to them losing the election.

No the highest interest rate EVER RECORDED was when Labor was in power, a record standard variable interest rate of 17% which lasted for nearly a year, Howard's highest interest rate was 10.5% which is what Keating left him with, all he did was bring it down from that and never exceeded that, and he left office with it at 8.55%, 2 percent lower than Labor left them with. He also had it down as far as 6.05% WITHOUT a global economic crisis doing the work for him to lower the rates.
