You are making too many assumptions: that all these Lebanese teens are Muslims. They could also be Christians, can they not? If there is gang activity, I say bust these guys. But I suspect that there is more to this story than what the author of this article are leading you to believe. There is a lot of open racism in Australia---at least that's what I have heard from people who have lived there. So it could be that some white Australians made a claim that it was their beach, and these Lebanese youths were retorting that, no, it was their beach. I think you need to do bit more research on this story and not stereotype.

I said that Middle East immigrants (as reported in the paper) are usually Lebanese Muslims in Australia. I believe this to be correct. I do not think you really believe these people are Lebanese Christians, do you?

That goes against the typical behaviour of most beachgoers, which is to share the facilities, and also against what the paper said:
"Some regular Cronulla beachgoers said that the behaviour of Middle Eastern groups was so offensive, they opted to travel to other beaches instead."

There is obviously more to this story, which the same paper has covered in other articles. I do not think you can find any factual innacuracy in my post, though the implication that we are seeing agressive behaviour by Muslim immigrants here is something I think even you would accept.

There was a gang of Lebanese men living around the Glenelg area in Adelaide a couple of years ago.
Their motto was 'Bash an Aussie a day'.
And they beat the crap out of many - to the point of pulling people (men women and kids, but mostly older boys) from their yards to do it.
They were hard to enforce because they used the numbers of their gang very effectively to intimidate law enforcement.
The locals got together and set up roving patrols to try and stop these bastards - but the gang became so big it was impossible to stop them.
They were eventually brought under control by being picked up by the police individually, when, without the power of the gang behind them, they cried like the pathetic whimps they were, and spilled their guts on their gang friends.
Point is - the police did little until the locals made a move themselves. And then the police had to act or bashing would have turned to killing.
The real problem is dealing with these Lebanese gang members on an intellectual level. They are uneducated bully's who come from a culture that lives on crime.
Their parents and friends are all the same - low life two bit crooks, who, unless stopped, develop into the Lebanese Crime Syndicates that have infiltrated the world just like the mafia from last century.
They either live the life of a criminal, or work where their education and talents take them, namely the cleaning, fast food or courier delivery industries.
I'm sure that not every Lebanese male is a filthy dirty gang rapist criminal - but sadly there seem to be a hell of a lot who are.
Unfortunately, if Cronulla is anything like the problem here in Glenelg, the locals may have to take matters into their own hands.

They could be Christians. Lebanese Christians have been migrating to Western countries for the past one hundred years, if not longer. And that is why most Lebanese in Western countries 'are' Christians. Lebanese Muslims, on the other hand, rarely migrate but they do find jobs in Gulf countries and usually return back to Lebanon.
What I don't understand is your insistence on characterizing these Lebanese youngsters as "Muslims." Should we Muslims start identifying all Westerners by their religion?

The paper could be prejudiced. It never bothered to ask these Lebanese teenagers what's their problem or how they would respond to these charges.

Christian marionite lebanese and coptic egyptian christians have been around for a long time, including in number in Cronulla when I was there 30 years ago; we got along fairly well. They've never been problems and fitted in with the culture. At that time though there were two differencess: 1 we weren't feeling the impact of Paul Keatings and Bob Hawks maximum scumbag immigrantion program; we were selective and migrants actually had lower crime rates than Australians: now many of them have much more . 2 the numbers hadn't gotten to the point that 'ghettoisation' was happening.
It must also be remembered that Christian Marionites are descendents of Cannaintwes and Phoenecians have a fine ancesty of trading and share a strong religious culture with the West (christianity started there). Thus both religiously, culturally and historically they are more compatible. They are far more assimilable than the muslims that immigrated into Lebanon and made those marionites a minority such that they inally lost power in a country there were once the majority.
Anway you can usually spot a Christian lebanese; they are somehow different in their attitudes to the muzzies.
They seem to genuinely have girlfriends for instance and hang out in mixed sex groups.
I must say they probably do get up to mischief more than they should but its not so bloody minded.

Unfortunately you are right. But the real crime was in the policy makers who brought Middle Eastern people to Australia in the first place. There was no need for it. There was no pressing from the public to bring them here. I don't know what hidden qualities they have that some policy maker thought it necessary that we should exploit. . You have to ask yourself what sort of people got into the Immigration Dept to inflict these people on Australia.

I'm confused by your comments.
Policy makers do not "bring" Middle Eastern people to Australia, in the first place. The US took that approach, from Africa, a couple of centuries ago. People (from anywhere) wish to come ot Australia, and it's the qualities of individuals that are "exploited", not of a whole region or religion.
Your comments presume guilt before innocence. Simply wrong.
