  I had to download the image and zoom in to see it. It appears its a damaged &lt;br&gt; pixel on the CCD a few pixels from the top. That affects the rest of the column &lt;br&gt; of pixels.   What&#39;s the brand that he currently has? I would have thought that it&#39;d have a &lt;br&gt; cover that drops over the CCD while the lens is being changed. &lt;br&gt; I searched too (see other post). Not much out there by way of faulty CCD images.

  Is it in the direction of the sun or a very bright light? If so, its an artefact &lt;br&gt; of CCDs and digital cameras. Point a digital camera at a very bright light &lt;br&gt; source, like the sun, and you&#39;ll get a vertical line. Different cameras have &lt;br&gt; different colours but the cause is always the same. &lt;br&gt; He&#39;s wrong. &lt;br&gt; Yep. He&#39;s wrong.
