I did this ride for the first time ever and I must say I enjoyed it :)
3hrs 40mins was my time to the Gong and I was a bit slow compared to this
other fellow who said he did 3hrs 2 mins. Anyway, there were kids on their
bikes who seemed to have got in BEFORE either of us so I guess there is
really nothing to brag about on our part.

It's going to interesting at Blacktown Station tomorrow (Sunday) morning.
There are no trains running west of Blacktown due to trackwork, and the
Sydney to Wollongong bike ride is on.
This means all participating riders who live in the Blue Mountains, or
Penrith or far western Sydney will be trying to get on a train at Blacktown

I have a Den Haag handlebar bag which mounts on the handlebars but sits
so high I can't put my Ayup lights on the bars. It also has a dicky
plastic mount that doesn't handle the weight in the bag very well over a
long distance and begins to tilt forward.
I'm wondering whether there is an alternative handlebar bag available

I checked here, but the t-way isn't shown.
[link]
No NW cams. I'm sure I've seen it in the past and wondered if it was
featured as one of the revolving set of images shown on trial digital TV
channel that the NSW government ran for a while.
Does anyone remember such?

For those doing the Oaks Firetrail (Woodford to Glenbrook), There is a
magpie nesting at the junction of the Appian Way and Parker St.
He swoops you as you ride down the hill before the T intersection onto
Taylor Road.
In past years he seemed content to swoop and squark, but I've heard a few
people say he is contacting this year.

Hells Bells, that is all the fun of Usenet. These groups are not moderated
which means we can say anything we want. Tom Sherman and I agree with one
another about the joys of unmoderated newsgroups, although I, unlike him, do
not take any of this the least bit seriously. In fact, I KNOW that you have

Many thanks for the extremely interesting link. But let us share this with
all the denizens of these lowly cycling newsgroups. They deserve some
culture and refinement too.
What is presented is a graphical score animation of the lst movement of the
Beethoven 5th. It shows with absolute clarity the complexity involved with

 Hi
I'm flying to Sydney on 9 October and want to ride from the airport to
my parent's house at Chester Hill. Does anyone have a link to a bikely
map of a good route for something close to this (eg Airport to
Parramatta or Bankstown)?
Peter

Folks, I'm confused. What is the consensus about the 'best' front light?
Had something called a Racetech Sports until the fitting fell apart. Not
too bad.
Any thoughts on the lights at Anaconda? They seem well priced.
Or perhaps the BV recommendation? They reckon the Basta Polaris BA3
($39) is alright.

Anyone but me noticed how Mr. Tom Sherman of ARBR has fallen from grace over
the past year. He was once a the mainstay of several of these cycling
newsgroups. Now he has not even become a gadfly, but more of a footnote.
Folks it does not get any sadder that that.
I urge Tom Sherman to get back to his normal stance. These newsgroups need
