My sinus culture has just turned up pseudomonas, which I've had before (several years ago). The ENT gave me a choice of Cipro or nebulized tobramycin, and I chose Cipro, despite the risks, because I've always tolerated it well. The tobra would have cost me at least $100, and last week I I had to foot the bill for the CT scan. (My great health insurance plan ain't so wonderful anymore.)
Here is my question: I'm aware of the involvement of Pseudomonas and biofilms, amd I'm wondering how long I should stay on the Cipro, or if it will even work. At the suggestion of Judy, last year I went on a long (3-4 month course) of low dose Zithromax (250 mg twice a week) to disrupt the biofilms. Plus irrigation with a saline/MSM solution. It really worked!
Anyone here ever conquered pseudomonas with Cipro and irrigation?
