You *can* take antidepressants for depression caused by bipolar disorder or 
schizophrenia, but you have to be careful to take other medications to 
prevent the AD's from driving you into manic states. For example, a bipolar 
person might take Depakote and Celexa, to treat mania and depression, while 
taking Celexa alone will probably drive him manic.
