I want to thank you for talking to me about the potassium stuff. The drs
keep saying it is a bit low but nothing to worry about.

Well after you getting so worried about me, I went ahead and have been
eating a half a banana a day since you mentioned my symptoms sounded like
low potassium. Well guess what I feel better now. I do know the Lord has
been working with me too with the heat stuff. Don't get me wrong I am not
perfect with it but better than I was at least. The weakness upon getting up
has gone away and so has the shakiness when I don't have enough fluids in
me. I still get the feeling like I will go down though at times but not like
before.

I wasn't having any muscle spasms until today. Now my whole body is going
crazy. But I hear we are suppose to have a weather change again so it could
be that. My one hip popped out earlier and the other feels like it is not
behind it too far. My back, neck and shoulders are screaming. So is my
chest. My wrists and elbow also are in the act. So are we having fun yet.

But I wanted to thank you so much for talking to me about it. I was going by
what the drs were saying that it wasn't low enough the one time I was in
there and then no one seemed to check it anymore even though I mentioned it.
So it shows me once again, just because it is a little low, with me means it
better be treated or I am going to be in trouble.

I am so glad it worked a little.  Raisins, winter squash, potatoes with skin
on, bananas are all high potassium.  So if you get sick of bananas....

Actually a banana a day isn't a bad thing at all.

One other thing to try now SJ.  In the morning, mid morning, lunch, mid
afternoon and dinner try making sure you have some protien.  This could be
an egg, peanut butter, cheese, yoghurt.  Some people have shaky times during
the day and for some reason this works for them.  For me it also helps me to
lose or maintain weight as I don't snack on junk during my low times.  It is
always tempting to pop sugar or starches into yourself during these times
(especially the sugar) but this just raises your blood sugar for a short bit
and actually starts a bad high/low relationship.

The weather change doesn't help any I know. Try lots of body position
changes during those muscle spasms and perhaps try some calcium with
magnesium if you aren't already taking it.  With the prednisone use you
should be sitting at 1500 mg calcium with 1000 iu of vitamin D.  For some
people the magnesium does end some of the muscle spasms.  I know waiting out
the weather doesn't always help.

So glad this seems to be helping SJ.  If I can help even a little bit on the
non medical advisory stuff.  It is hard without a steady doctor I know.

Hang in there - things will improve eventually.

it is hard even with a dr too at times. Alot of this stuff was going on
while I still had a dr and they didn't seem to care or want to research to
see what the problem was. I have a list of foods for potassium too. I forget
who actually sent me it but I know it was from the group.

I do get protein. I have the blood sugar drops so I have to eat 6 small
meals a day to keep them leveled off. I am always eating. I will go to tell
Jim I need something to eat and he will just look at me and say yeah I know
you need something to eat don't you. LOL But I don't eat big meals like he
does so it doesn't last as long in me.
