Disney resorts and parks are extremely friendly for handicap/disabled visitors. They and an escort get head-of-the-line privileges so they don't have to wait 45 minutes in a line.
Knott's theme parks have the same policy.

My daughter in law and my other son's girlfriend thought Disneyland was incredible to go to with me. We went to areas no one else did and went to head of lines. The treatment was great.
I did book my scooter from Scootaround and was really glad I did. That way it was waiting at my hotel and was picked up afterwards. I was insured that I had it and better yet for me I didn't have to walk to the entrance and wait in line for the scooter rental there. I had it to go to other restaurants near by. One day I scooted back to the hotel and had a nap (much needed) and went back. Couldn't have done that with renting there. Now I will say that I can't walk far at all with the neuro thing with my leg.
I have used scootaround 3 times now and have been very happy with them. I have my scooter booked for Hawaii and it will be at our hotel. We leave for Seattle on Saturday and leave for Hawaii on Sunday morning. I am so ready for that. Has been a tough couple of months or has it been many tough months. Anyhow things are going better for me in my mind but I am ready for heat and sun. Might even try a hula class but know for sure I am going snorkling. Have a new bathing suit and all (ugh - yes get that image of my prednisone filled body filling that one. Yuck! How come losing 24 pounds doesn't show that much??)
Anyhow I would recommend Disneyland for sure and I gather all their parks are in the same handicap friendly state.
Enjoy your trip,
Kelly

Thanks for the recommendation, Kelly. I'm strongly considering a scooter, as it'd give me just a little more independence - 11 years on crutches has worn my shoulders down a bit and operating a manual wheelchair if my shoulders aren't having a good day can be very painful. I'd need one of those ultra-portable ones, though, as we're renting a teeny tiny little car to get around in and the space in the boot (aka the trunk) is going to be miniscule.

If you haven't looked at Scootaround's website already Ari, do so. http://www.scootaround.com/ I looked just out of curiosity. They offer 2 types of scooters, power chairs and regular wheelchairs. They also seem to have a tie-in with Avis car rental so you might be able to swing moving up a size in car rental if need be.
I've traveled overseas enough to subscribe to the belief that you get what you need to enjoy this trip the most you can. It may be the only time you do this, so milk it for all it's worth!

There's nothing like a truly satisfied customer for good referrals!
Kelly, enjoy your trip as absolutely completely as you can! Soak up that sun and warmth and relaxation and don't let yourself fret about stuff while there. It'll be a wonderful tonic for you.
As for the weight loss -- my mom lost 40 pounds after Daddy died, no longer having to cook for him nor care for him. Her health improved but she still wore the same size clothes! She bemoaned that fact, rightly feeling that she should have lost at least one size for all that work! The one change was that stuff fit more loosely and as she was rather short, some things were too long for her after the weight loss. And the weight loss was quite visible.

When you get to Hawaii, buy yourself a mumu and promise to enjoy everything. Even the rain.
I loved snorkeling. And if I can do it, anyone can. One good thing about pred weight, it helps you float.

Scottaround's website has a major error in the online reservation system (the town Kissimmee is not recognised unless you spell it as Kissammee, which is in Nebraska, and I only discovered this error because they had the same spelling error in another part of that page). Further, they do not respond to emails. I guess they don't want more business, and I certainly have no desire to give credit card information to people like that. The last thing I need is a wheelchair in Nebraska!

Sorry if that sounded too negative, it's getting increasingly frustrating managing my medical conditions in terms of travel arrangements and such.

I have just returned from Hawaii (2:00 in the morning) and had to reply to this. Scootaround gets you to fill out a form (do not give a credit card). They ask basic information and then either they call or I usually call directly. They intelligently ask questions as to what my needs are. I then give them the credit card information on the phone and it is entered while I am on the form. All confirmations for me are given by internet which is great as I have written confirmation as to date, hotel, etc. The scooters have always been delivered early and are picked up - no arrangements needed by me. They follow up on the small companies.
I have used them 4 times now. New Orleans, Disneyland (to my hotel not to the park), Seattle and Hawaii. This time my scooter was not holding a charge. I phoned the company that owned the scooter I was renting in Waikiki and the woman on the phone said I shouldn't get more than 3 - 4 hours but if I wanted she would exchange scooters although that was the best I should expect.
I knew that was wrong and could see that my holiday would be drastically changed by this so I phoned scootaround technical service (toll free and answered right away). She agreed that this was not right and while I was still on the line phoned the company back. I was told it would be switched out the very next day with a new scooter. The Hawaii company phoned, apologized and bent over backwards after that and agreed that the woman who answered the phone gave me the wrong information. I ended up with an almost new scooter which performed wonderfully.
My service from Scootaround was exceptional as always. The credit card does come through on a Vegas address so maybe that is where the company is located. They come highly recommended by me and others I have talked to. I would not locally deal ever after this experience. One call to Scootaround solved all problems. I have had slow service on my email once but the phone calls and most of the emails have been very prompt.
As you can see I have a great deal of respect for the company. They have helped so much with my arrangements. Any questions on travelling by air etc I might be able to answer this year. This was my most carefree travel holiday and I can't believe how well I did in general. Will fill everyone in on my successes another day. Off to bed.

Welcome home. I am so glad you had a good arrangement with the scooter. Tell us about Hawaii. Where did you go? Are you going to post pictures? I am also glad that you are back hearty and hale. God bless.
