It seems like it's everybody for themselves on offense, pass, see if I can break it down one-on-one, if not then I'll pass. For D'Antoni's reputation as offensive guru his offensive schemes are none existent.
Also I guess David Lee is playing for a big contract down the road. He's putting up shots like crazy (to his credit he's hitting most of them) and he wants to prove to the league that he can be a 20-10 player. This is like Charles Oakley shooting 20 shots a game, LOL

Probably nobody's listening. They're all aware they're out of here next year, and that the money under the cap is going to whatever free agents can be corralled before it goes to any of their greedy, underwhelming selves. We've all made it clear that we don't want these guys on our team. Guess what, we're getting our wish. They're all getting to walk next year when their contracts are up. To sit around and bitch that they're not playing hard when that's so obviously the situation for everyone is being a bit greedy and prima- donna-ish.

Don't offend Oakley or anyone's memories of him by comparing him to David "swiss cheese D" Lee.
Anyone can get 20-10 if no one else on the team is bothering to go for a rebound or tries hard to get a shot. That's the fact his ludicrous agent overlooked when he was busy all summer arguing that Lee deserves $10M per season since he had those numbers regularly. Never mind those other numbers -- wins and losses -- where the latter is constantly greater than the former. That's why nobody else in the league offered him anything.
Lee is worth no more than $5M a year (that's being generous), and unless some team panicks, that's the max he's going to get next year. We've said it for many years here -- he's a role player, not a leader. Despite that, he wants to get paid like a leader. Isn't that nice. You know what? So do I.

I don't buy it that not having your teammates going for the rebound makes it easier. It just means no one else is blocking out. And if rebounding were that easy on bad team, Jeffries would have been doing a much better job of it. Playing on a bad team doesn't put 10+ rebounds in your hands and 16 pts on the board while shooting at 55%.
I don't want to go into a big defense of David since I don't want to pretend to know what he's capable of on a better team. Of course he's nowhere near the defender that Oak was, but that aside, Oak never averaged 15 pts a game in his career. And granted that Oak played next to Ewing, but in only 4 of his 10 season with the Knicks did Oak average double digit rebounds.
Maybe Lee's agent tried to sell him for more than he was worth and he got no takers (though it's hard to know when guys like Hughes and Curry are pulling down > $10M a year). That's what his agent is supposed to do. What I don't understand is why everyone pounding on the guys for not being the exact player they want him to be. David has skills, and he's a workman player who has demonstrably improved year to year. He has all the qualities to be a fan favorite but has turned into something of a lightening rod for fan's dissatisfaction.
There are plenty of guys who blossom on the right team and I'd be excited to see what Lee can do playing along side some quality teammates - if he ever gets any.

Lee will only ever be a success if he plays along side someone like Howard or Duncan, Big men who have the ability to cover for his defensive deficiencies. On the Knicks, Lee just is put into a role that #1, he is not suited for and #2 that he is physically not able to handle. What is most annoying about this whole thing is Lee had to know if he was coming back to this team and his competition was going to be career under performer Darko, he was going to be playing the 5 at some point and that meant concentrating on getting stronger and hussling on D. All he is doing is firing up shots from everyplace on O and getting lost on D. This is more of an effort to sell himself to another team after what was a disappointing FA tour than to try to be part of a winning system. This also isn't all Lee's fault (get ready Styfo) I blame a lot of this on D for putting him out there. I mean Lee is our C and Jefferies is our PF. How the Hell can you play any form of tough D with those two in the front court. Lastly, why isn't Hill getting more minutes, I mean wtf is he going to learn from watching these two.
