Alcoholics are not Drug Abusers!!!!
Fanaticism is not required for sobriety but some would have you believe, of course, it is. on the other hand, i suppose some people need to be fanatic. giving up fanaticism for drink leaves a hole. so the fanaticism is transferred, i guess. maybe the "message" is get sober and get out quick and get on with life .... ...

Rational? Recovery & AVRT
Crosspost alt.atheism and alt.religion if you want to see equally fanatic and oposing beliefs in action. But if you step away from it, just a bit, you'll see the exact same ardent defense of personal beliefs. It will demonstrate nothing about religion, God, or athieism, but it will demonstrate that what someone ...

Arrogance goeth before a fall
How responsible are you if you walk when a fanatic is spouting to a group with ( gasp) newcomers present? A lot walk and never come back and the only excuse you hear is that they weren't ready. ... I don't think the word 'disease' is correlated with irresponsibility, but I do think that tolerance of fanatics is. ...

Setting yourself up for Relapse
I wouldn't even attempt to try to change a fanatic. Even one posing as rational. You know some compelling pattern that I've fallen into? You know full well why I don't waste my time with Mr. Staamfa? Ennui. The man bores me. What could anyone say that hasn't already been said 4000 times? Obviously he feels he is on ...

Intellect vs Sprituality
There was this boy and it was whispered his father was a fanatic believer. Me, being interested in anything out of the ordinary and no believer in God wanted to know more about it. So, when I got the chance to speak to him (the father) I asked: how can you be certain God exists? And he replied: "I cannot prove it. ...

Questions I asked myself
Somehow I hadn't placed him as a fanatic yet, but I suppose he is...raging and ranting....either that or his age has produced some moments of non clarity..... which I can actually commiserate with. I've never felt I had the need to defend AA. I think it has enough merit to stand on it's own without my assistance. ...

Programming in the human sense
The right side seems to see Evil in bibical terms while the left sees it in Marxian terms, wealth and power. Both, of course, want to do their duty to take care of the 'little man". God works in mysterious ways.....as does atheism. Gosh GaryE, you're always such a fanatic about this thing you have about fanatics.

Happy
Arguments carried to extremes by extremists. The self appointed status should be a clue as to how serious you can take them and of their own mental functioning. GaryE's very own self-appointed fanatical fanatic club. Putting down Them again, just so, eh? How exclusionary and denigrating and attacking of you. ...
