Histogram Levels question
I've been searching for a graph relating histogram levels to relative exposure values, but cannot find one. E.g. level 255 being 0 EVr, level 128 being -2.2 EVr etc. This would enable me to change camera exposure in one step instead of faffing around. I'm unable to remember even small tables, but could probably... more »

Solana Shadows
Here is a pic I took. [link] A surfer resting a bit before heading home. It's uncropped. The person behind the subject does disturb the peacefulness of the scene. I have thought to crop out the entire incoming wave and lighten the disturbing stranger's shadow.... more »

Pacsafe TravelSafe 12L Anti-Theft Bag For Cameras & Laptop - Review
I'm going on a trip to several countries soon and I've been paranoid about having my camera gear or laptop stolen. We'll be staying in hotels, hostels, and vacation rentals plus traveling in rental cars. So I got this Pacsafe TravelSafe 12L "anti-theft" bag for about $65. It says it will hold up to a 15.4" laptop, which I tested with my old... more »

lens repair?
My Canon 24-70 2.8L has crapped out a third time, and I need to get the iris mechanism fixed. I would like some input for where the best places to get the lens repaired in the U.S.A. and Canada might be? My previous experience with Canon Canada's service was terrible. Since I am in Mexico, I would probably need the shop to be able to... more »

Copying 35mm slides with Canon 450D - adapter ring for old lenses?
I have a Canon 450D, kit lens, and I bought one of these... [link] It's a Bower Digital duplicator. It says "HD2" model in the eBay advert, but when it arrived it wasn't - it was the "standard" one. The shop assured me they were identical. Given the postage and customs charges, I'm not about to send it back.... more »

Comments for Cat(h)
In another thread, you said... Here are a wee bird and a couple of crosses I shot two week ends ago in the Burren, in Co. Clare, Ireland. They're probably full of technical faults (and I'm putting on my chainmail in expectation of the deluge of criticism), but they look pleasing to me. [link]... more »
