Histogram Levels question

I've been searching for a graph relating histogram levels to relative
exposure values, but cannot find one.
E.g. level 255 being 0 EVr, level 128 being -2.2 EVr etc.
This would enable me to change camera exposure in one step instead of
faffing around. I'm unable to remember even small tables, but could probably

Here is a pic I took.
[link]
A surfer resting a bit before heading home.
It's uncropped. The person behind the subject does disturb the
peacefulness of the scene. I have thought to crop out the entire
incoming wave and lighten the disturbing stranger's shadow.

I'm going on a trip to several countries soon and I've been paranoid
about having my camera gear or laptop stolen. We'll be staying in
hotels, hostels, and vacation rentals plus traveling in rental cars.
So I got this Pacsafe TravelSafe 12L "anti-theft" bag for about $65.
It says it will hold up to a 15.4" laptop, which I tested with my old

My Canon 24-70 2.8L has crapped out a third time, and I need to get
the iris mechanism fixed. I would like some input for where the best
places to get the lens repaired in the U.S.A. and Canada might be? My
previous experience with Canon Canada's service was terrible.
Since I am in Mexico, I would probably need the shop to be able to

My old Epson
scanner gave up its ghost and I am looking for a replacement.
The nice thing about my old scanner was that, if I place two (or more)
photos on the scan-bed, it would automatically give me individual scans of
each photo, instead of a single scan of both photos, combined.

The new version of the G'MIC toolbox for "The Gimp" has given my
creative impulses a bit of a boost, and my collection of "gimp art" on
Flickr has started to look a bit better IMHO. Hope you like it.
And any comments will be appreciated.
[link]
Also, with a comment, on:

I had a play with the G9 and noise reduction last night at home in a low lit
environment with a mix of glass, fabric, and wood. I compared raw, Noise
Ninja, averaging multiple images, and Canon's ZoomBrowser Ex and in-camera
noise reduction.
The G9 is definitely less noisy than an A590 but not as good as an SLR.
Another Dead Sigma

When I bought my EOS 33 film camera I decided upon Sigma lenses as
they were not that much inferior to the Canon equivalents and much
lower price.
The 70 - 300 zoom crapped out long ago, the aperture decided to not
stop down, so I replaced it with a Canon 70 - 200 f4 IS which is an
outstanding bottle.
