Whatever you like to work with is best.
After I switched to digital, I never really looked back, except for moments

Great observation
*unlearning* is a lot more difficult than learning
When I first started writing...it was to burn off anger.
I wrote *every* day for something like ten years.
Eventually I stopped writing on a daily basis.
Figured I had said enough.
Realized I had no anger left in me...just ten years to get it all out!

Mirroring is an old technique in verifying philosophy.
That reminds me, I have learning the Japanese tea ceremony on my to-do list.
All 300+ rules and ritual bowing and scraping of it. While holding the
thought that there's some deep meaning that grasshopper must get I'm
reminded of a scene in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

I've noticed that but the anger can also end up killing you. It's hard to
explain and probably deserves an essay (which is another reason to do a blog
as I only have to write it once) but carrying around all that baggage can
get in the way. It's another lesson of my last photoshoot and one reason why

Another thing I do is take well known adages and flip them around
and see if they make sense.
Sometimes you can say something and it sounds wise...
but if you flip it around and say the opposite...
it makes sense too.
VIZ:
You can't judge a book by it's cover.
The reality of course is that I usually do judge a book by it's cover.

Which is probably why I am not good at Haiku...
as it involves thinking.
God how I hate to think too much.
That's why I usually write free verse.
Of course, being lazy like me is not a bad thing...
when I write without thinking...
it's really a god way of letting my true thoughts come out.
They'd be blocked if I thought about it too much.

Action and spontaneity are keys to Zen which haiku is tightly bound with.
I've independently arrived at philosophy that various greats have arrived
at, or advocated ideas similar to others. This experience is not unique nor
is it a particular comment on anything. This is also Zen.

Yup. People often get their hokku and haiku mixed up, and I get tired of
pointing out it's not the syllables but the moras. You have to look at the
beat of the words which people often get wrong. Plus, there's a little
wiggle room so it's not always an exact formula. Then there's the subject
and nuances of the words. Aagh.

You could probably take any sentence and find multiple , possible
meanings but the intended meaning of the above Haiku is fairly unambiguous.
Good humor is often based upon construction deliberately designed to be
ambiguous.

Ambiguous. 'Pick not one' can mean 'Pick not only one', or 'Pick more
than one'.
I suppose if the last line read 'And not pick one' it would ruin the haiku.

I don't miss film at all. It's all I use. I think you may have
misunderstood me - this image is a Velvia 100 slide originally scanned
at 4800 or 9600 (the jpg is 16 meg) and sized down for flickr.

I almost miss film, too. But life goes on and we can go to 2,400 pixels, or
higher and scan for other images within the image. In the film days we

So far I've used only a local store (very good results) or a lab that sends
my file directly to their printer (I prepare the file for their printer
resolution and colour profile, superb results).
It seems nothing much has changed over the years. Some of the equipment is
better, but it's the procedure-in-the-middle that stills spoils the final

are free programs that sharpen, I do not believe they deblur, and
allow full basic enhancements like Picassa. Printers come with them

If you get hold of IrfanView, which you can download for free, it has a menu
item, File -> Save for web.
This will let you resize images and reduce the size all in one go. You can
