It says "HD2" model in the eBay advert, but when it arrived it wasn't
- it was the "standard" one. The shop assured me they were identical.

In a night-club...shooting with a flash is not going to cut it...
unless you want to maybe risk one or two and pretend you're a tourist.

I am scanning a lot of old photo albums into my computer. My old Epson
scanner gave up its ghost and I am looking for a replacement.
The nice thing about my old scanner was that, if I place two (or more)
photos on the scan-bed, it would automatically give me individual scans of
each photo, instead of a single scan of both photos, combined.

they no longer use CRW , now it's CR2 (sigh)

I ordered the above camera from Photoloon as they had the lowest price.
Since I wanted a camera that could shoot in low light...I set the iso to
12800 and took a few pix at night in a room illuminated by a single, 60
watt incandescent bulb.
Not bad...the shutter speed was 1/125 ...so I can easily get a clear

Noise and Colour

I had a play with the G9 and noise reduction last night at home in a low lit
environment with a mix of glass, fabric, and wood. I compared raw, Noise
Ninja, averaging multiple images, and Canon's ZoomBrowser Ex and in-camera
noise reduction.
The G9 is definitely less noisy than an A590 but not as good as an SLR. Raw

Scanning 35mm Slides

I have many old (going back 50 years) slides that I am planning to digitize.
My main purpose is to put them on CD and show them on my large screen TV.
So, the question is ---- is there any advantage to scanning at a resolution
any higher than that which matches the TV, which is 1080 lines?
Since the TV is a DLP, my first inclination is to scan at about 1200dpi and

When I bought my EOS 33 film camera I decided upon Sigma lenses as
they were not that much inferior to the Canon equivalents and much
lower price.
The 70 - 300 zoom crapped out long ago, the aperture decided to not
stop down, so I replaced it with a Canon 70 - 200 f4 IS which is an
outstanding bottle.
