Not naming names to avoid feeding trolls, but let's call this backwards idiot "darnoc de"
Because most sane people (including some Afpers) have already killfiled his name, he keeps changing his address, presumably to stop the sky falling or something.
Any hints on how I can permanently killfile him in Thunderbird will be gratefully appreciated. At the moment it's once per address change.

Set it to recognize his name in the body of the message and send it to trash.

I do that and set it to "ignore thread" then I don't see the replies either.

I can't find a setting in Thunderbird to do that! I use message > create filter from message then filter on the current sender. There isn't an option to search in the body of the message :-( I'm probably missing something obvious

I use Thunderbird and I set my filter to "Sender" "contains" and then typed his name into the next box instead of the spam...@spamalot.com or whatever the latest address is. Seems to work as I haven't seen any for some time.

This is a "bad thing?"

Guess you can only do that with messages in your mail and not in newsgroups. Too bad. Thunderbird is crap.

You can do it in newsgroups. The trick is that you have to 'open' the post in its own window before you get the menu options Tools> Message filters and more importantly Message > Create Filter From Message... Having to explicitly have the item open before you can do certain functions, rather than just highlighted, is not unique to Thunderbird (Outlook - work - only allows you to recall and resend for instance).
Thunderbird is not crap, but possibly the documentation could be improved.

OK tried that, I still only have the option of filtering on "Subject" "From" and "Date". Bummer
Still filtering on ech name change is no biggie, thanks anyway.
> Thunderbird is not crap, but possibly the documentation could be improved.
Remove the word "possibly" and replace "could" with "should" and you're nearer :-)

I followed the advice to set to [From] [contains] [Ed Conrad] which should cope with most first instances of these posts.

I was being polite/flame resistant. My first though was to say TB is not crap but its documentation is. However, I have not really tried to use it much and if I really think it needs improving I should contribute to the project and not slate it! YMMV as they say :-)
