Welcome to the Affordable Housing Network NSW web group. Please take a moment to read the following guidelines for appropriate participation in this group.
-
Messages and articles should be brief, on-topic and to the point.
-
Please avoid the use of all-caps, otherwise known as SHOUTING.
-
Assume that individuals speak for themselves, and what they say does not represent their organisation (unless stated explicitly).
-
Please keep personal replies personal: check who you are sending to before replying to or sending a message, as personal messages sent to the group are embarrassing for everyone.
-
If you find a personal message has gone to a list or group, send an apology to the person and to the group.
-
Remember that email and web usage take system resources. Pay attention to any specific rules covering their uses your organisation may have.
-
Don't get involved in flame wars. Neither post nor respond to incendiary material.
-
Posting articles or sending messages to an individual whose point of view is offensive to you simply to tell them they are offensive is not acceptable. Sexually and racially harassing messages may also have legal implications.
-
Advertising is not welcomed on or through the site. Use of the site or contact details of members for the purposes of unsolicited promotion, circulation of offensive materialĀ or spamming will get you barred and the behaviour reported to the originating organisation and relevant authorities.
-
Take some time to have a look around the site before you post anything. This will help you to get an understanding of the culture of the group. Reading posted material may also answer basic questions that you have and save you from having to ask them.
-
Do not blame the group administrators for the behaviour of the users, but do report any behaviour or usage you consider inappropriate.
-
Consider that a large audience will see your posts. That may include your present or your next boss. Take care in what you write. Remember that websites and email are frequently archived, and that your words may be stored for a very long time in a place to which many people have access.
-
If you are sending a reply to a message or a posting be sure you summarise the original at the top of the message, or include just enough text of the original to give a context. This will make sure readers understand when they start to read your response.
-
Avoid sending messages or posting articles which are no more than gratuitous replies to replies, or basic 'me too' responses.
-
The group culture will only be as good as the effort put into it, so please be thoughtful in your usage and behaviour.
Enjoy the group. Suggestions for these guidelines are welcome.
