Dynamic Tabs Shell template - useful to mere mortals?

Yesterday I had a look into the new Dynamic Tabs Shell template, as
delivered in 11gR1 PS1. I wrote a blog posting about it here:
[link]

Now my question is, how useful will this template be to custom/bespoke
app developments of a much more modest size than Fusion Apps? I've

 Hi Florin,

absolutely, the JSFBean could go a lot further. Execute including
parameters and better return types would definitely enhance the
functionality.

cheers,
Brenden

 Hi Nirav,

Go to the following link and apply as a developer (I'll approve you). Go
ahead and check the projects out of Subversion. If you haven't read the
developer's guide, start with that, and then start looking through the
source code. When you feel like you've got a general sense of what's going

Hi Brendan, interesting and useful posting!

Just one idea: how about the 'execute()' method from your example to
return the exception object instead of a boolean value.
It might prove useful when the business code is using a custom stack
of application exceptions.

Best,
Florin

On Nov 6, 2:25 am, Brenden Anstey <brenden.ans...@delexian.com>

 Michael,

Thanks for your interest !

Absolutely, just give me some time to put together a starter document, run
it by people whose content I might have borrowed/referred to and then we'll
all get to collaborate and add on it.

bad practice?
Definitely not. There are always multiple ways of achieving something.

I am also interested in this and willing to participate.

Yet I feel like we need to define more what anti-patterns are.

The best definition that comes in mind is that:

•	It’s a way to implement functionality that has a better way to
implement the same functionality.

But does that mean that if you have a best practice everything else is

 Hi JV

Great idea. Given a number of members wont be familiar with the
concept of anti patterns nor how they apply to ADF, why don't you
start a discussion based, say, on one of Steve's examples. Drop Steve
an email at the usual Oracle email address to ask permission, I'm sure
he'd love discussion around some of his previous ideas.
