I think I made a mess of things trying to create a new category. I tried the new textbox and I think it just created a new topic, which I can't seem to delete.
First I tried, "PROJECT EXAMPLES-HOW-TOS" Then I tried "PROJECT-EXAMPLES-HOW-TOS" Then "CATEGORY:PROJECT-EXAMPLES-HOW-TOS"
I tried typing all of that three seperate times into the New box. However, I think I created 3 blank topics instead of creating a new category. I tried to add links to my new category on the main indexes of the QM pages, however, it is rightfully telling me that they don't exist.
Anyway, the whole point of all of this was that I was going to create a new CATEGORY and add that topic (the long article about rsync, and mirroring QM boxes), to that category.
I was trying to reorganize a bit because it sounded good in my head...
I can fix this for you, or ejumicate you on how to do it.
In the abscence of your being here to answer this, I'll opt for the latter:
The topic called "CATEGORY:" is my "master index. Since you are not adding a whole new category, like "Dogs", let us assume for the moment you are adding a new subset to QM.
So there is a topic called "CATEGORY:QM" which is an index of all the sub-categories of QM stuff.
I see where you added in this topic your link to: CATEGORY:QM:PROJECT-EXAMPLES-HOW-TOS, which would benefit from a less cumbersome link tag, possibly along the lines of "Project examples How-Tos".
So you actually did it just right. You just didn't jump off your new link into your category to start populating it.
Let's see how you do with this. While I could fix it for you, you're really close to havind done it yourself, and taking an initiative. I like it.
Thanks, I think I fixed it... Basically I can just add the category to the index and then click on it... it wil say that it doesn't exist, then just hit edit and create it.
However, I think I still have the garbage one of:
"PROJECT EXAMPLES-HOW-TOS"
with a space in there instead of a dash. I don't know how to delete that.
It appears though that the little red underlining stays there suggesting that the topic doesn't exist, even though it really does now.

Bingo. Good job.

First, we find it:
Using the search box, Enter ":title project]"
This brings you to the only item in the database with that topic.
Then, click on the topic, then edit, then cancel out, because we forgot that only admins can delete.
So basically, I just documented what I did for you. =)

This is actually a "feature". See, we build links when the page is saved or previewed. This cuts down on a lot of extra reads each time a topic is opened.
To fix this, and I left it for you to see, edit the category item that contains the red underline, then simply save it. Once refreshed, the red line is gone.
