I'm having some trouble with my Mandala recently. What happens is
sometimes while I am using it, it will stop responding randomly and I
have to restart the software to get sound out of again. When it cuts
out the program does not register hits anymore, and no sound comes out
of the speakers. I have tried a few things so far, mainly wiggling the
usb cord in the back to check for a bad connection, and have found
nothing wrong with the usb port. Also, it does not seem to matter how
hard I hit the drum for it to cut out. I am using a new macbook pro
with an m-audio firewire 1810 (something like that) and have the
update installed. Any help would be great!
do you have any other programs running at the same time or any other
usb devices plugged in? maybe something is cutting out the mandala.
or maybe it's the cable? you could also try recalibrating the mandala
under preferences in the brain program. has you pad ever been
knocked over or dropped? maybe the chips came loose inside or
something.

There are many possibilities that could be causing this, you will need
to clairify when it happens and what your doing while its happening.
You can get the software to "cut out" from 3,000 different things.
From using different software like Battery, to your memory or other
conflicting programs.
For instance, if you have your Mandala partitioned into 7 zones and
have a sound card that can't suppor that many sounds that buffer size,
it's gonna crash.
The Mandala is like Vegas, It can take anything you throw at it, the
problem is can you and your computer give it what it's asking for?
Well, to answer some of the questions you asked; I am not using any
software other than the virtual brain with the update provided on the
website. I am never running any programs simultaneously when this
happens, so there should be nothing strange running in the background.
The computer is a brand new macbook pro, and is running with the
firewire 1814 sound card (I have also tried the presonus fp10 with the
same result) and a memory upgrade, therefore I believe this should be
powerful enough to handle anything the mandala could provide. As far
as when this happens, it could happen at any moment. It has happened
on most of the patches I use, and sometimes will not occur for days
and then just start randomly again. It will happen on 7 zone patches,
it will also happen on one zone patches running just the standard
triangle sample they provided with no effects. There seems to be no
correlation between the complexity of the patch, and when it cuts out.
Also, I have tried multiple cables, and tried wiggling the connection
on both sides and that will not cause it to cut out. The strength of
the hit also does not matter. Thanks for all the help though.

Very interesting. I have experienced multiple problems with both
versions, more problems on the full where restart is needed. I can
only chuck it up to what I am playing.
Few questions:
Are you using the EZ or the MB (Full version)?
Are you playing fast or hitting the Mandala in complex patterns?
I can stop the Mandala by doing a quick complex rudiment over multiple
zones, but I think it's my sound card not being capable of converting
the sound quick enough thus creating a backlog of buffer and...
CRASH!
If your doing complex patterns, try looking into either your sound
channels or your buffer setting. Your memory may be ready to drop it
likes it hot, but your buffer might not be "open" enough to let
everthing pass.
