Subject: Attention to detail...
Has anyone ever noticed that the Mandala 2.0 drums we have are
slightly different that the one's Danny uses?

My real question is regarding the "feel" of the pad.  I am used to
playing on acoustic drums and pads made out of gum rubber.  What we
have is a very thin sheet of rubber providing very little cushion.
Danny's pads appear to be foam-like...

I am thinking about grabbing a sheet of gum rubber and modding the
pad...

Thoughts?

Only visible difference is DC's are a different purple, have 7 sides,
whereas the Mandala 1 and 2's have 9  sides. I figured cause they are
the prototypes. Not sure of any feel differences but I'm sure they'd
be pretty much the same as the sensors on the Mandala would rely on
the pad being quite thin, I would think. I have a M1 and M2 and only
notice a subtle difference in the feel of the pad, with my finger
tips. Seems like a slightly different mix of plastic. Or maybe that's
just cause the M2 is newer.

Interesting...

As a comfort level, I like to have more bounce.  I'm sure I will lose
some sensitivity but I take the good with the bad...

Also, almost done with the demos for the EZ platform... I have another
project that's been taking longer than expected...

I FEEL your FEEL problems with the pad. I put these sheets of foam-
rubber used for dampening acoustic drums and I think it works great.
With the additional layer you have to hit it harder than normal as the
triggers have an extra layer of skin. I personally prefer it that way.
Hitting just the thin rubber doesn't feel right to me. The foam rubber
has more give which isn't too far off from how my acoustic kit reacts.
And it still picks up rolls nicely.

Danny's Mandala prototypes are actually harder than the v1.0 and the
v2.0.  That's the way he prefers them.

Don't get me wrong. The feel isn't bad, but the way I have my kit
setup it just flows to have that real feel bounce.  I crank my heads
pretty tight so I need that same reaction.  It comes from years of
playing tenors on DCI and Wintergard.
