The 'no buffer~' message is fine. That's standard. It's the other
messages that show what is happening in your case. Your Virtual Brain
has issues because of some old version of Max that was installed on
your machine. The VB is calling up the wrong version of MaxAPI.dll.
Here's how to undo the conflict:

glad that solved it.
about the other issues, max/msp 5 won't interfere with the virtual
brain and neither will max/msp 4.6.3. if you have any older versions
than that then uninstall them.
some other things that will help what you are describing about the
preset loading:
- make sure you have not moved anything from the original virtual

Now I have some other issues - VB doesn't load presets (it says
loading but the number of zones and sounds remains the same) and I

It wouldn't be the M-Audio, but the Logitech webcam sounds like the
culprit.

Things like that Logitech device's drivers are mentioned in those
links above as messing up the registry and causing Windows MIDI
problems.

The Mandala is a class compliant USB MIDI device which means it's just
a MIDI controller that doesn't use any special driver but just uses
the built-in Windows MIDI driver to operate. It doesn't come with any
driver to install because you already have it installed with Windows.

Hello everyone,

I know someone already had this problem but I couldn't find any
solution on here.

When I plug it the USB port, my pc (win XP) detects it and I can see
it in the Device Manager. But as soon as I open Virtual Brain, I can't

you should definitely go to the support page at the mandala website
and download and install the newest version if you don't have it (the
one that shows everything in one main window instead of 5 different
ones, v1.51 i think it is) and also download the new updated manual.

Gday guys,

I Recently bought a mandala v2.0 off ebay (yes i know "idiot") and am
wondering:

How to go about importing the custom sounds? I'm downloading the
samples from freesound.org and can't seem to be able to select the
sounds in my user sounds folder to assign it to a zone?

Some advice on ways to incorporate it into a live band setting would

I'm on an imac, core 2 duo, pretty fast. I can get by in live with say three audio tracks running with the mandala in record mode, but any more tracks than that, it becomes unplayable even using the inter mac out soundcard. Also, my interface is a profire lightbridge firewire, it should be fast enough. I don't know, it just seems like all the gear has to be super high end, or things don't work right. I can just use the mandala brain for playback without much issue, but recording into a program with the same computer is rough

it's the machines and interfaces you guys are running. pc's aren't
made for the level of professional music you are trying to use them
for unless you fine tune them just right, including pro level audio
interfaces and no other peripherals, which can kill the windows MIDI

Ya same thing here, the mandala's have issues, at least the basic electronic kits don't have all this baggage, let's face it, they made those for tool and his has custon out jacks we don't, there product is not really catching on in a live setting, I see no one playin them, there a recording tool at best
