Subject: Which sound card for a Macbook Pro
Hello,

I will have a Macbook Pro with 4Gb Ram soon, so I am now wondering
which external sound card would be great (I don't know nothing about
Mac today) ?

I want to use it to play mandala live, so I need of course a great
sound and some XLR / Jack (input/output).

Thanks for your replies !

There are so many choices that it really depends on how much you want
to spend.  I use and RME Fireface and it is amazing but I used to use
an M-Audio MobilePreUSB and it was very solid.  The RME has lower
latency and I do more with it but it is almost 10 times more expensive
than the other one so depending on what you are doing overall with
your computer you should make the choice.

I also have a Macbook Pro (2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo to be exact) with
4GB of RAM as well and I bought and have been using my mandala with an
M-Audio Firewire 410. So far it's been great. I think it was
discontinued but you can probably find a decent used one for around
$150. I have noticed less latency with it than without, besides that
it all still works pretty reliably even if I don't use the interface
though. But yeah, if you want to play live then I recommend an
interface. :-)
