I've got a couple of sites that have contact pages. The VB behind has
the mailserver on one site as 'smtp.example.com', on another it's
strangely 'mail.example.com' (but it still works). I'm working on
another site, and I've been told by the client and the hoster that I
should use smtp, but, whether I use that or mail, or even CDONTS, I
just can't get it to deliver, all I keep getting is "The remote name
could not be resolved: 'xxxx.example.com' ".
Are there any other prefixes that could be used instead of smtp
Don't you have access to the client's control panel?
What server-side scripting language are you using?
I know on Godaddy Apache hosting they have disabled php mail function
and you have to use a funny way of writing a date stamped file in a
mail folder which will get grabebd by their mail processor eventually.

I use MS Visual Studio (VWD) so I use ASP and VB express. I found the
correct smtp today, and it has nothing to do with the domain name
itself, but is more aligned to the hoster.
