Subject: Sitemap Basic Issues
Here is a sample of the sitemap:
  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <urlset xmlns="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84">
- <url>
  <loc>http://training.pastperfect-online.com/99990cgi/mweb.exe?
request=record;key=1</loc>
  <lastmod>2008-01-14</lastmod>
  <changefreq>monthly</changefreq>
  <priority>0.50</priority>
  </url>
  </urlset>

Here is what I get at my dashboard:

Property Status
Sitemap type Web
Format Sitemap
Submitted Feb 6, 2008
Last downloaded by Google Jun 29, 2008
Status OK
Total URLs in Sitemap 1
Indexed URLs in Sitemap Help   0

Sitemap errors and warnings
No errors or warnings found.

SO, WHAT AM I MISSING.  I have submitted larger sitemaps, multiple
sitemaps etc, but they all have this same symptom...Who can help me?

Thanks in Advance;
Brian

Hi Brian,
In the URL you gave in your posting
there is not much content to index, just a
<noscript> element (all that is visible to
search engines inside the <body> element
of your page) with
'Sorry, you must have JavaScript enabled in your browser' and
the rest is a <script> element with JavaScript
checking cookies, so difficult/impossible for Googlebot
to extract content from.

Also, are all the other not-indexed URLs of type .exe?
There are URLs with .exe extension indexed in search results,
but I was wondering if it might cause problems sometimes.

Thanks cristina, I just want to make sure we are talking about the
same page.  The <loc> tag was broken into two , so if you clicked on
the URL, you may have arrived at a page that doesn't have content.

Please confirm that you arrived at a sample record that shows an e-
machines computer.

or (same record, just trying to avoid line break...
training.pastperfect-online.com/99990cgi/mweb.exe?request=record&key=1

Hi Brian,
Yes, I meant the URL
training.pastperfect-online.com/99990cgi/mweb.exe?
request=record&key=1
There is not much content there for user-agents
not supporting cookies and JavaScript, like bots.

Have a look at the source code with
the W3C validator (just to see how a bot sees
the source code), check More options
and Show source at http://validator.w3.org/
or look at the source code with
http://www.asymptoticdesign.com/aux/header-viewer.cgi
and check the GET option.

What a WEIRD site!

It starts with a meta refresh to a .exe file - no way on earth is that
getting past my firewall.

And then loads of the 'organic' links that you'd expect to be internal
wander off to http://www.museumsoftware.com or similar.

I can think of a few reasons why this site isn't indexed, and none of
them have anything to do with sitemaps.

Cristina is right.

See what a spider sees of your page:
http://oyoy.eu/page/spider/?ua=&url=http%3a%2f%2ftraining.pastperfect...

Nothing to index.
