The Walk Against Warming is on again this Saturday (see details below); the
last few years we've had a group riding in from Moreland to join the walk -
I'll be down at the Prom this time so won't be able to organise anything but
if somebody else wants to do so, all you need to do is choose a meeting

My partner and I have just bought a house in Coburg and will be moving
there in March. We're currently living in Camberwell and commuting by

Follow up from last night's MorelandBUG Meeting

Apparently the community meeting about the development of Gillon ova/
park/sporting node went amicably earlier this month. A report is going
to Council in December - it is expected to endorse plans - they will be
put up for public comment over January on the Moreland website.

Bike parking in Fawkner

have marked spots at the supermarkets in Bonwick St and Major Road for parking hoops. I would like to meet with you to do a site survey for putting in more bike parking. Are you available during working hours or between 5 & 6? I'd much prefer to get the opinions of cyclists who use the shops than have to guess locations for rails.

Presently living in North Coburg (Mathieson st), about to move to
Fawkner (Major Rd).

I don't use Merri Creek Path for commuting as it is too windy and too
many short sharp hills. I cycle north up McBryde st to the
Hare/Broadhurst st crossing (too steep for comfort, and I haven't had
to turn back yet when the creek floods, but dreading that time). I

By and large I agree with you, and perhaps I should have prefaced the
suggestions with "If I had my druthers", if I thought people wouldn't
gag at the americanism.

I have never seen any data, but from my own experience I can tell you
that usage of the Merri path between Carr street and Hare/Broadhurst

Do we have any data on who cycles in Fawkner at present, and where
they cycle to?
First priority is to meet the needs of those existing riders, not just
fill the area with generic "facilities" to meet some imagined
demographic and fantasised potential usage.
